Meet 4th Source's Talented Employees.
What is your role at 4th Source?
I am a senior developer currently working with a major international retail chain that is opening new stores in South America.
We are implementing several changes in their systems, and are opening them to multiple languages including Spanish and Portuguese. The system changes are being developed on C and C++ running in a Linux environment, working with at least three different data base formats.
What do you love most about working with 4th Source?
I like the people who work here. We have a great team and everyone gives it their best to improve every day. You can also ask anyone for help without a problem. I feel like I can connect with the people here not just about work, but on a personal level. I've worked in other companies and they don't compare to 4th Source.
What is your most memorable moment at 4th Source?
I'd say I had two very memorable moments at 4th Source. The first was when Jessica Garcia called me and asked if I would be interested to work here. Another memorable moment was when I had been in the company for only fifteen days. I was recognized by a former manager, Alberto Bustamente, in front of his team despite not being eligible for an award. He said I was one of the highest scoring people at the Merida office.
When you're not working at 4th Source, what can we find you doing?
I like to read about current affairs having to do with news, sports, and IT. I'm currently reading Michael Crichton novels that have become movies. I'll read the book and then go watch the movie. I also enjoy spending time with my daughter.
To stay active, I play 3 on 3 basketball every Tuesday after work here at the Merida office.
What were you doing before you joined 4th Source?
Before working at 4th Source, I spent fifteen years at a retail software development company. I gained a lot of experience moving between projects and helping to deliver them on time. I was one of three senior programmers in the company. I also worked at a financial company as a project lead.
Where do you see your future?
I aspire to become a team lead and help our customers deliver better products. I want to share my near-twenty-year experience working in IT. Another goal I have is to learn a new programming language. I am currently learning Java, and have begun to learn Python in my free time to become a 4th Source Tech Lead.
My personal goals are to learn French (I started in September), and perhaps to take salsa lessons.
